THE AFTERMATH


When the room is filled with the smell of wet books And a glass holds nothing but stale wine Refurbish the vineyards that tongues delve And inhale the antiquity that lies on the shelves When I lose my voice and my lips dont mutter anymore And my thoughts become as lucid as the window pane Write them down in a verse or on a vase Lest I forget it all when my mind turns in reverse When my eyes become a cave where moonlight never creeps And crayons dont colour like they used to Count the stars as they disapear at twilight prior to sunrise And I'll draw lillies and daisies and ladybugs for your surprise When the hate is fading but revenge lurking And there's still a wrinkle in the shadow Look to the skies for clocks are clouds And watch nostalgia turn to nonchalance When I find my peace but still lose my temper And my fingers can not tie the shoelaces Never untie the knot we tied in a bud And Remember the benevolence i once had
