Aftermath

The moon rises and the sky cries.

I try to figure out these lies

As the rocks crumble beneath my feet;

This used to be a street.

My rags drenched, toe to head.

So many now lay dead.

Enough was spilt to cause a flood;

Most of it is blood.

Just how many have to die

As a result of man’s lies?

Buildings and bodies silently fall

Just like the death of a fly.

Some time ago

Wasn’t I still asleep?

I still don’t know

What memories my mind will keep.

We must find food and water,

But they’re poisoned or scarce.

We must endure for later

Through this demon’s farce.
