Against All Odds

Against All Odds
When I took the step
That transitioned to leaps
Led me on a ride
And changed my life
For the better
But when the limiters knocked at my door
Telling me I wasn't gonna get it right
I Got fed up
Self Doubt shaped into drive for better
It's gets better, and better, and better
Emotion grew into passion
Being better, and better,
Intelligence shaped into intellect
Better and better
If not for the people in my life, even those who said I couldn't do it
I would still be in the corner tryna cry my way through it
But Today I stand tall out looking the skies from the mountain of victories
Built strong by many
Given the blessing of self belief
Published author before the age of 13
But not without the ladies in her life
Showing her how to be a queen
And the men upholding the life of kings
-So I'll do what mommy and daddy told me
And I'll hold my head up high
Never forgetting
To thank my God up in the sky
-Remember,
Sincerely from the heart
That each and every person is never seen best at the start
But if you hold your ground and hold true to your own
All the put downers will learn to leave you alone
Always be you, don't put on these fake facades
Gallop like the dark horse, against all odds
