Age and Deception

Every morning she leaves her house.

She doesn't carry much with her,

But she never goes anywhere without a genuine smile beaming from ear to ear.

However, years have passed and now things are different.

Although she continues to carry around a smile,

Something about it seems different

At first glance she seems to me competely content,

Yet she is not.

Her smile is filled with lies.

It is concealing the discontent and lust she feels deep within her.

Every morning she puts on her facade,

It helps her mask the crippling feeling of depression within her.

She wears it so often

That it almost makes her forget how she truly feels.

However she is not the only one.

Around her she sees that everyone else is also masked

And she realizes that this is the devastating reality

That being an adult entails.
