age of remorse
hail to the king
she says as she steps back
cuts her foot on the glass
tonight we drink
we drink like royalty
and so I say hail to the king
images flashing
before her eyes
swirling down
in crystal and wine
she says
it won't get any better than this
and so she sits
back
the throne is her's and it's woven
of blood and flesh and bone
she breathes in the sick scent
of iron
and death welcomes her
she's known
for all her life
and she says
tonight we dine and tonight we fight
tonight we drink and tonight we die
as she laughs heartily
hair falling in cascades
about her shoulders
eyes cold as ice
burn like fire
she keeps a blade in her chest
just below the second rib
plunge deep, fluids drip
too hard to remove
nothing to gain
hilt glitters silver
not enough pain
and so she sits back
laughs again
won't you just look at me
and so she says
hail
hail to the king
