Aging Youth

What is this aching gap inside of me?

It's like the size of the child

That I used to be.

Time has mangled such deep agony

Inside of my soul where I try so hard

That I bring myself outside of my shell.

There's an emptiness that throbs with the unsteady beat of my heart,

A rythem with the sound of a thousand steeds racing,

Racing towards a desserted nothingness.

If I could hold my own trembeling hand of my youth,

I wouldn't.  I've never been able to.

How can you tell yourself the things you never knew?
