Ain't that America
When I speak , they shut me down
Try and talk up so they can hear me, but no words'll come out
I tell them look into my eyes, but they're lookin' at my skin
It's like they're forgetting I'm just a darker version of them
In school I'm left behind
I have potential that no one else can seem to find
The sixties are over, and slavery has since been ended
But, now it's like we're startng right back at the beginnin'
Got more wars than ever
People shootin' thinkin' it makes them clever
It's like our President doesn't care
Yet, I pledge my allegiance to a flag that doesn't seem fair
I cry myself to sleep hopin' better days will come
Grandma used to say after a hurricane comes the sun
It's sad to see all the injustice that's happenin' to some
Got people workin' for minimum wage
Yet, people gettin' paid everytime they grace a stage
This is a problem we face
But, what can I say?
Ain't that America?
What do you think can change?
