Ain't He Alright

oh, i’ve always known to clean the dryer filter after every load

I’ve always known how to fold

I’ve always known how to pee in a cup

But I’ve never really known how to grow up

I’ve always known that bills don’t pay themselves

And if no one is around I can stand on the counter to reach that shelf

I’ve always known the 1st and the 15th

And sqeeeeezing the toothpaste to brush my teeth

but I’ve never really known how to grow up

I had to learn that sharing yields a much greater return than being stuck up

And just because it’s tough doesn’t mean it’s stuck

No matter how sticky the situation, rain can wash away anything

I had to learn that it can wash away everything

And when it rains, it pours

So now I carry a bucket and an umbrella

To wash away the mess and protect myself from the storm that’s next

That even though it’s better, doesn’t mean it’s best

That when you learn to trust Him, is when you finally pass the test

I had to learn that just because you love them doesn’t mean they love you

But that doesn’t matter because we’ll all see God soon

And there’s no greater love than that which comes from the sky

Because with Him, it’ll all be alright

And ain’t He alright?

For teaching us all the things we’ve ever known

So no, I’ve never really known how to grow up

But now I’ve grown
