The air is in mourning

The air is in mourning, wind howls and spits Tears roll down, and hit our cheeks like bricks Tears welling up our eyes, making us lie Trying to fight back, what we can’t deny. Tears muffling out voices, Noise it swiftly kills Tears touching our lips, keeping them sealed. Tears drowning our lashes As we whisper ‘ash to ashes’ Eyes moving frantically as daylight dashes. Eyes unblinking as we walk away. Eyes closed while our soul decays. A vision of black a future it lacks. Calling out to the heavens, hoping death had pretended. Grieving hearts, grieving minds, Waiting, waiting, for the healing of time.

This poem was inspired by the passing of a very close friend, she was the mother of my best friend.
