The Air In My Lungs

I absorb every day

It is a part of me

The blood in my veins

My nerves and senses

Connecting me to my surroundings

The words I spill

In my own unique way

Keep me sane

For they can somehow say

What my mouth cannot

Poetry does not simply "mean"

Something to me

It is me

My life, my soul

And most of all

My heart

Poetry saves me

From the pressure

And suffocation of life

Like the air around me

It's what lets me breathe
