Airplane Thoughts

Dear Airplane Thoughts,

From one side to the other her loved is stretched between her father and her mother

Long car rides shifted to long flights when her father moved up north.

She didn't let this affect her, she didn't budge from her course.

She kept her head up high as she was stretched thinner and thinner.

She tried and she tried to not split open at the center.

Her mother is loving but harsh and demanding,

while her father is nothing but reprimanding.

She is expected to do all to keep her life afloat

she must do what shes told without ever getting a vote.

The distance in miles is only half the distance between their hearts.

a father and daughter that have grown apart.

she keeps her head up high and fights through the tears as she finishes up her high school years.

College is next with adulthood attached,

but sometimes all she wants is her childhood back.

A time when she saw her father more than twice a year.

A time when his voice was something she wanted to hear.

The what ifs and the what onlys

She yearns for the wonders of an unbroken home all warm and cozy.

She was dealt these cards and isnt allowed to fold

As she matures her heart grows calice and cold

She can protect herself from any further pain, its what she must do to remain sane.

They say time will heal so she watches to clock,

Waiting and waiting for the ache to stop

She’s hopeful and patient

Her future is vast and indefinite

Happiness is just a heartbreak away, so she must be almost there

Sincerely,

My Heart
