ALARM

“RING, RING, RING!”

A man wakes up to the sound of “PING, DING, DING!”

Looks outside, sees the world he made.

Takes a big sigh, mood seems to fade.

Doesn’t eat, appetite seems lost.

“What’s the point?” he says, seems distraught.

Puts on his suit, no shower and all.

Care not he thinks, smells appall.

Takes the elevator down to his basement.

Office he calls it, such an overstatement.

Elevator stops at the last floor.

Stepping out, what a view to adore.

A wall of monitors, computers, devices, machines…

All transmitting the world he sees.

He views, gazes, watches, monitors.

Mood drops, falls, fades, lowers.

Takes what seems to be controls, manipulates what he sees.

Such failure in his eyes, to let everything go the way it seems.

From people going hungry to wars being ravaged…

He has the controls, the power to stop it.

Yet he just sits there, thinking it’s at a lost.

“It’s far too late”, he says. Too high of a cost.

No intervention, can’t help… thinking like a fool

Motivation left him at a time most cruel.

A big red button, labeled “RESET”

An option he has yet to consider, an option he won’t forget.

He pauses for a second, contemplating.

A quick and easy fix to everything…

But if done, there is no turning back.

Fails to see the consequences of such a desperate act

Regardless, he reaches, thinking this is the best move to bring.

“RING, RING, RING!”

A man wakes up again to the sound of “PING, DING, DING!”
