Alcoholics Anonymous

Grimy club on the corner of
Sober and Somber
Street of blues too blue for my
Beat up and broken heart
I wear my purple bruises nobly
A king who's come home
To his wife's familiar embrace
Entangled in her cigarette perfume
Smoke and mirrors, vapor and illusions
I took my place at the bar, a king at court
Two drinks in, my uneasy conscious hesitates
But the edges of my vision soon soften...
A grimy club-a lavish palace
Reality twists and turns with somersaults
Harsh flashes, lights
No-mesmerizing, safe
They pulse with a steady glow
And with two more drinks
On the corner of
Addicted and Afraid,
I am home
