Alice's Addiction

Swallow the pill, down the whole bottle, savor the cake, and watch the smoke billow,

As a cheshire smile forms on your face, you feel at ease, like you're finally in place.

“Wheres Alice?” your mother chided as you hid in your rabbit hole and let the world spiral.

Once an innocent girl, turned towards a world of make believe,
“Curious and curiouser” you muttered as you fell asleep.

Because the rabbit hole doesn’t exist, and your life is in shambles,

Alice, swallow your sorrows and live to tomorrow

“I can’t go back to yesterday I was a different person then,”

Because Alice had gone mad, but the best people are

But the tea party sent her on her way,

Her flame extinguished as the candle melted

Because Wonderland doesn't exist and addiction took over,

Alice, you were loved, but in the end…

Your tombstone read:

“Begin at the beginning, and go on until you’ve come to the end:then stop”

Your casket was lowered,

Your mother stood in tears, utop your rabbit hole

Despite the efforts, she couldn’t believe

A world without Alice?

Like a raven and a writing desk,

The answer?
“I haven’t the slightest idea.”
