Alive

I can feel the vibration of your sweet, melodic voice

It rings through my body and reverberates through my fingertips

The vibration shatters glass like a rubber bullet pinpointing the exact fracture that would cause the biggest crack

And your voice only cracks after shouting declarations of love

Love that is boundless

Flowing through the ocean

Strong enough to resist the undertow

And on a quiet night when the only sound is silence

I can hear you singing to me

I listen to you harmonize with the world

The only light comes from the reflection of the moon over the dark water

And when the sand crunches beneath my feet

I look up

I see the way your eyes sting with sadness

And I know that I’m alive
