All because of you

Dear Alcohol,

You've ruined my family
you've made them alcoholics
we used to be so close
then we fell apart
and it's all because of you

First, my mother
i remember she used to spend so much time with me
having tea parties, playing with dolls
but when she lost her job
she started drinking
every night and every day
she forgets everything she does
like she's starting to get dementia
she always seems to ask the same questions over
and over
and over
again
some days i cant handle it
and she'll get mad at me if i tell her
and she only does this when she consumes you
and it's all because of you

Second, my dad
i remember when he would always hold my hand
always play with my stuffed animals
make them have silly voices
then he started to worry about money
and started drinking
he's pretty cool
for the most part
but he's like my mother
always forgetting what he says
he likes to give "inspirational speeches"
it's the same speech he repeats
every single time
and he will just keep dragging it on
it gets really annoying
i cant handle it anymore
and it's all because of you

Third, my sister
we used to spend a lot of time together
playing video games
we got so comepetive
we started when i was four and she was eight
then ten years later
all she did was party
she would lie to my parents about going out
she would go and get drunk all the time
and guess who has to babysit her
me
i was only 14 at the time
cleaning her up and putting her to bed
she still acts the same at age twenty two
and it's all because of you

Fouth, my uncle
i remember he would carry me over his shoulder
he called me a sack of potatoes
i thought is was histerical
but recently he told his wife some news
he wants to seperate
he doesnt want to be with her anymore
this is currently his second wife
and is leaving her
now every time he comes over without her
he drinks
and drinks
and drinks
he doesn't know how to handle life anymore
and it's all because of you

Fifth, my gradparents
where it began
i remember when they would always take me to the park
they would even go down slides with me
but there house flooded during hurricane harvey
so they currently live with us
they are under a lot of stress
trying to find a new house
because of that stress they drink
when they're drinking
they start talking really loud
i have to take medicine just so my head won't hurt
and it's all because of you

Sixth, myself
the one that has to deal with all of it
the one that takes care of every one
the one that will listen to them
the one that remembers everything in the morning
the one that never forgets
and it's all because of you
