All Eyes on Me

"You!" An older woman's hand points at me

"You!"

As I walk up to the front of the class, my hands become shaken and sweaty

Trying to speak but nothing comes out, then being asked to sit down with my body feeling heavy.

"You!" 9 years later the same hand seems to be pointing at me

"You!"

I walk up, still shaken as before

I look at the crowd of kids taunting me with there eyes but I try to ignore

I take a breath and then speak

Words are flowing out of my mouth, I am doing it, I could freak

I sit back down when the applause ends and I know that I have overcome.

The fear of public speaking where my body doesn't feel so numb.
