All that I am

I once heard a man say that there are more connections in our brains than there are stars in the sky.

Connections that enable me to learn a language, remember names, dream.

But yet, when I look at my head, all I see is a nonsymentrical face and greasy hair.

My nose which has an awkward bump in the middle has the ability to know fifty thousand scents.

The eyes that have never been the deep sparkling blue I wished for,

Can tell the difference between ten million colors and if were a camera would have 576 megapixels.

And when looking down at my fingers and remembering I have unique fingerprints, all I see are my too short nails.

The bones which magazines say must stick out in order for me to be beautiful are ounce for ounce stronger than steel.

And the hair that I spend hours curling, one strand can hold a 100 grams and all my hair can hold the weight of two elephants, but all I see is how it's not blonde enough.

So, the next time I look into the mirror, maybe I won't see all that I'm not, but all that I am.

I'll realize how amazing this work of art  that will carry me through my entire life is.

Maybe I'll make one more twinkeling connection, that I can't compare myself with anyone else.

Because no one had, has, or will ever have my exact DNA.

And that is the most beautiful fact I have ever known.
