All that I Ask
Bare feet on soft ground is all that I ask
A tune to move upon might as well be sweet
But I have the birds! And I have the trees!
Feet move move move to every single heartbeat
An electricity stings my fingers and all that it asks
Is for my sore soul to move
Out of the chairs! Out of the classes!
Dance upon the life song of the earth
Do not take passion away is all that I ask
For passion is the fire of our souls
My body will move! My mind will fly!
And no thought should enter my brain but the soft kiss of life
A feeling I must describe is all that I know
On the tip of my brimming mouth but no words to encase it
Oh let me move! Let me feel!
Every thought is better felt than explained
I only want to dance and that is all I ask
I refuse to hide behind office desks and computer screens
So I will move! And I will run!
And the world can never catch up to me
Please let me move that is all that I ask
Let emotions run and for once let us be free
Let us go! Let ME go!
I will dance forever, for it is the only thing that seems to set my heart free
