All I Ask For

Because I love you

I want to make you happy Because I love you

I listen to you when you’re talking

Like about how that one day you almost walked into that pole on the corner of the street

Or about how, during class, you were really craving cookies n’ cream ice cream,
Your all-time favorite

Because I love you

I rewatch the same movies over
and over again with you

Even though you always fall asleep halfway through Because I love you

I tell you you’re beautiful and amazing Because I love you

I’ll be honest, I did eat that last piece of chocolate cake

Because I love you

My arms are your safe haven 24/7.

No judgement, no complaints

Because I love you

Instead of walking away when things get hard,

I sit down and work through our problems together

Because I love you

Your space is yours only

And I respect that

Because I love you I’m your #1 fan

And I support you and your goals

One day, I see your eyes grow wide and

Light up like stars in the night sky

And your smile stretches across the sea

Because you know that I love you.
