All I Knew Was Nothing New

" Sweetie It's not that I mean to be this way, or even the fact that you call me mean, a fiend when my hand sways across your face. Home is where I am and where I am is here, God help me if I see one tear because you slash at my chest leaving a gash open and I cannot help what comes next".

That was all I knew to be true, no folk lore in these anecdotes. Just sores for anything I said only awoke a war. The words I spoke, replies with a back hand or two and I was the one who was speaking rude, to provoke?

"Sweetie come here",

Hearing that only caused me fear,

"oh dear what mitake did I make to disbey, I conveyed the good boy". My cheeks filled with tears.

But I quickly turned it to a cheerful smile from ear to ear. Why? Because we live a lie, and what's more is to try to protect the ones we care for. Regardless of how we feel, because love for a parent is real. No matter the pain, the feeling remains it's still and always be the same. Like a puppy beaten daily, it'll still crawl back to its ower wagging its tail, broken paw and all and for some reason it never leaves the parent in awe.
