All I Need

The sun rises, and the sun falls.

One day passes and another comes.

We take advantage of what we have,

And go about our lives like we are the only one.

We all believe we are entitled to everything from the sun's

Light to a home within our own four walls.

What happens day to day is what we think we need,

But what is the craving we must feed?

This question can only be answered case by case,

And in my case, it's a dream I can only chase.

Need is such a strong and powerful word,

And often times we get the meaning blurred.

The thing I need is not to be heard,

It's the chance to hear the rest of the world.

The beauty that lies within hides away,

Waiting patiently for the chance to be seen.

To me the world is more than just a beautiful place

That we live in as an unworthy race.

No, the world holds secrets we cannot understand.

My dream is to touch the beauty

And see the whispers in the wind.

The thing I need is to always let myself

Feel the pleasure of seeing the world,

But I fear this need has an expiration date,

For as I grow older my need becomes more of a want,

My dreams will soon be memories,

And I will see the world in the way everyone else does.

So to me the thing I need is not a person,

Nor a thing, but instead an abstract idea

That beauty is in everything but often overlooked.

The one thing I need in life is the strength and courage

To hold onto a dream I once held so dear.

Others may think that a single thing is most important,

But in a world so big, the needs and wants of a girl like me

Are nothing but a candle in a hurricane.
