All I Need

All I need is the comfort of these four walls

the sound of children's laughter as it echoes down the halls

the celebration of goals achieved

and realization that they can not be deceived

by the lies and fears in their own head

that said I CAN'T

I CAN'T be the best

I CAN'T read

I CAN'T write

I CAN'T be who I want to be

all turning quickly to I CANS

I CAN be the best because my teacher reassured me so

I CAN succeed even though I may struggle as I go

I CAN step out of these four walls knowing

That there are so many places I will be going

because beyond these four walls where I learned so much

I will carry with me the love, trust, and faith that I will clutch

to my heart bestowed upon me

all given by a teacher who said I believe
