All I need
I always wanted to know what it would be like to have him in my life,
How could he not choose me, but instead his wife,
I'm his child for crying out loud,
As I grow older, I realize that he is the man I can't live without,
I need him in my life to cure me from my fatherlessness,
Without him my life has been a mess,
A father suppose to be there to love and protect his daughter,
Without him, my life was like a wall without borders,
Life is getting shorter and shorter,
I'm his older daughter,
Nothing can replace my father, not even money,
I worry about him a lot because we live on the opposite sides of the country,
If something was to happen to him, I have no way of knowing it,
He says he loves me but he has a weird way of showing it,
All I need is my father in my life,
He can clean up my tears with a single wipe,
I need him to be my shoulder to cry on and tell me it's alright,
He is always on my mind when I fall asleep at night,
Fatherlessness is more than an illness, it's a fight,
I cannot live without my father and I am 23,
Now matter how I old get, my battle with fatherlessness will not flee,
But I am not giving up on my father because I have the victory,
I won't give up until my father completely comes back to me,
This is more than a poem, you see,
I really want him to be a father to me,
He has done very little to raise me,
I lived with him and his wife, in California for a year,
After that he sent me back to New Jersey,
He never called to check on me,
He didn't even worry,
But he packed my bags and put me on a plane in a hurry,
When I came back to New Jersey, my life became a mess like a pile of dirty laundry,
I got in trouble a lot in school,
I didn't care, I wanted to fit in, I wanted to be cool,
I acted like a complete fool,
My father has missed important aspects of my life,
He wasn't in my life to protect me from the dangers of boys,
Molestation is a horrible way to destroy someone's life,
I have been molested, and where was my dad, with his wife,
I date the wrong kinds of boys,
Where is my dad when I need his approval to date boys I dated,
He is with his wife,
When I needed protection from heartbreak, he is with his wife,
All I need is for him to be my father,
Why must he break my herat any longer,
He's the muscle I need to get stronger,
The food to my stomach, I need to cure my hunger,
This is an emotional hunger, my father represents the bread I need like "wonder",
There is no other love for a daughter's love for her father from deep down in her soul,
He's the cotton in my coat, when I'm cold,
But instead he is acting like mold on a piece of bread when it gets old,
It's almost like I'm a pice of furniture that he no longer wants at a garage sale, so he sold.
