All I Need
If you asked me one year ago what I needed
if I were to be casted off on an island
I would be the last person to tell you it was a boy.
The last boy I considered my other half made me
doubt myself, question myself, even hate myself.
Everything was my fault, even the times somebody
else told him "no,"
something I could never say to him.
Because how could I deny anything to him
when it was all my fault already?
I left him on his own damn island, good riddance.
Then I met this new man, no, not a boy.
Young in age and heart, but he is what makes a man a man.
I knew the day I met him that he was the man
I had been dreaming of all these years,
the person who would build me up and support me
throughout everything I would ever do.
If I were to be stranded on a desert island I wouldn't
want a watch nor a calender, no concepts man
made up to stress ourselves out.
I'd want my other half, in all his beauty
and sunshine and laughter.
I would have all the time in the world with
the man of my dreams, my very best friend.
He is good with his hands and heart,
and we already agreed to be zombie apocalypse
partners, so that just seals the deal.
He is all I need on a desert island,
in fact he is all I need now and forever.
