All I Need
Memory memorandum and me
Filling my empty head and calling it a life
Dry hope leading me to dream about the past
And being my favorite thing to wish for.
Longing forever for things that were and never for what is.
The past lives only in the nape of my neck
And holds itself as my beckoning.
I thirst so heavily to remember clearly.
And to never forget.
My memory is prickly and gives me something to grasp
Even if my fingers end up aching and empty.
It itches at my knees
And is the sweat on my forehead and palms.
My memory is a parched throat and a drop of water
Split in two.
My memory is holding my hand
And leaving bruises on my thumbs.
It is what leads me to edge
And catches me at every ankle breaking leap.
It is everything that I was,
And is becoming everything that I am.
No one loves me more.
