All I Need
All I need
Is a soft and forgiving embrace
When life forgot to be kind
And instead slammed a door in my face.
All I need
Is you to read my mind as usual
To say out loud what I am afraid to
Your voice more loving and musical.
All I need
Is your chicken soup recipe
Food for my soul
And forgiveness for my enemy.
All I need
Is your rock-steady presence
Since the day I was born
You never let me forget it,
That you would be there
Through the best and the worst,
Always there,
Through the end since the first.
I can't imagine a desert without you
The sun would be less warm
And the sky would be less blue
Because your vibrance shines through
To brighten my days
And soften my blows,
Mom, I love you
From your wavy hair to your painted toes.
