All I Need

I am a girl made of metal
Who never needed anything
But her own two arms
Wrapped around her chest,
Holding herself together.

As long as I have myself,
I will be fine. I will thrive.
The world has never succeeded
In breaking me before, so why
Should desertion make a difference?

Girls raised on loneliness
Learn to thrive in it.
We make ourselves strong.
There is no shame in seclusion
And so the truth is this:
All I need
Is me.
