All I Need
This is not a poem, I am not a poet. This, sincerely, is the only thing I need.
If I were stuck on an island the only thing I need is the picture of my family that is kept on my nightstand.
I lost my father when I was 13 to cancer. I used to carry his picture in my wallet everyday until I was coming home from school and was robbed at knife point. My father was never a photogenic person so it was the only picture I had of him. Years passed and as with everything else that time touches things tend to fade away; just like his face from my deepest memories. Sometimes I feel like a bad son becuase I couldn't hold on to him in my thoughts.
A few years ago my brother's work had a company picnic that we all attended. They had a photobooth in which we took a picture within. That picure remains on my nightstand.
If I were stuck on an island the only thing I need is the picture of my family that is kept on my nightstand. Not so I can rember the good times we shared together at that picnic, but in fear that their faces would fade away from me one by one. That is worse than being stuck on an island by myself.
