All I Need
Tone and rhythm, catchy tunes.
Nature's purest art.
But, if forced, I'd learn to cope,
sans a single part.
Tumbling, flipping, flying high.
Man's own base desires.
But, need be, I'd learn to cope,
quenching all my fires.
Even friends, my greatest love
will event'lly fade.
So, for sure, I'd learn to cope,
giving up my aid.
Then the only thing I'd miss:
building my skill set.
Just this thing I've got to have,
lest my mind be set.
For minds that flow and gurgle on
open to ideas.
While static souls close up and die
as they slowly freeze.
No matter what I've got to lose,
I'd trade it for that.
As long as I improve myself,
not grow slow and fat.
A sharpened mind beats out the blade,
needless 'nough to say.
And so these souls lead to success,
and in full they pay.
So, what I couldn't live without:
my will to succeed.
Sans this, I couldn't dare to cope.
It's all that I need.
