All I Need...

“Do I really need that?”

I ask myself at the grocery store.

“Do you really need all this candy?”

“What do you need this for?”

“Do I really need that?”

I ask myself and say,

“All this junk food is just junk.”

Maybe I should put it back-away.

“Do I really need this movie?”

As I sit down in my seat.

“Do I really need these hangers,

to keep my closet neat?”

I ask myself a lot of times,

If I really need those shoes; that hat.

And I think to myself a lot:

“Do I really need that?”

All the material things in the world;

The money I withdrew,

Were all the mistakes it took to realize,

That all I need is you.

All the movies with happy endings,

Or arriving home safe and sound;

Have no comparison to the happiness

That’s caused when you’re around.

The jokes you tell to make me laugh

Are different from before,

And how you know to make me laugh

Is something I adore.

All the time I wasted with others,

The time I wasted feeling blue;

Were all mistakes it took to realize,

That all I need is you.
