all i need

if asked to bring

only but one small tiny thing

along to an island far away with me

id choose to bring you

and some tea

as they both bring joy to me

but you see

if i had to live

with only one thing

id choose love

for myself and for you

because you see its true

its impossible to live

without love for yourself

and for others you see

to be is such a strange thing

sadness can take control

eat you up as a whole

but powerless if

you maintain love for you

your heart can still boom

open your eyes

to see a brighter side

thriving in the air

all but to spare

the unwitting effects

of a world without love

leaves strange side effects

but even stranger hate

for yourself

leaving you with no wealth

and by wealth meant happiness

no longer to be dealt

if to maintain self love

it seems easier than done

and sometimes even easier to run

so that is the thing

just the one

i would choose to have forever

self love, self love
