All I need is Acceptance
All I need is acceptance
You see, I've always been taught that love was free
But lately I've come to notice that my kind of love is exhausting
A perilious maze of twists and turns
of harsh words and little acceptance
"It's wrong"
Every time I hear those words I writhe.
How can love be wrong?
How can love partition household along a dotted line
Where words are used as weapons
and an attack is placed on the only thing that matters?
I long for the days when gold words seap out of my parent's mouths
and into my soul
I long for the days when being myself is not pulling teeth.
I crave acceptance
It is my lifeblood
I have grown so very tired of hateful words being spewed down my throat
and turned to acid.
Why does my fear become more common than butterflies?
I don't want to live in this world where ones like me are too afraid to hold their lover's hand.
Where affection is not a thoughtless and free entity
But is behind closed and locked doors.
Acceptance is vital
I am so tired of living in my broken down frame
Reflective of constant undermining
All I need in my life is acceptance
Where acceptance grows I flourish
My flowers begin to bloom
I am made whole and new
I no longer live in shadows
In never ending ditches.
Our society is giving the wrong definition of the word acceptance.
Acceptance is not forcing your own intentions on someone to mold them
into the hypocritical prejudice that you grew up in.
Acceptance is not restricted.
If I am given true acceptance
I will soar on the back of angel's wings
I will become a star in the night sky
Shining for all to see
At the glorious acceptance I have recieved.
All I need in my life is acceptance.
Because love should not be exhausting.
