All I need is joy

All I really need is joy in my heart,

That’s my only motivation when days turn dark.

See friends come and go,

Material things fade away.

Joy will make you smile,

regardless of what life throws your way.

Education is good and a stable career is great,

Why take happiness when you had eternal grace.

When the thought of something I really need pops in my head,

I remember it was joy that allowed me to be the opposite of dead.

You could sometimes be breathing yet still not alive,

Joy caused me to be excited like a first dive-----

Into the pool on that hot summer day

Or into reality that everything will be okay.
