All I Need Is My Brother

You were just my brother

Every morning as I'd get out of bed

Mom and Dad in the kitchen holding coffee mugs as they shake their heads

"We've tried everything we could"

"The rehab hasn't done any good"

Rehab? But...

You were just my brother

Things got worse so I started to pray

I'd cry as I watched you fight with Mom and Dad

I'd scream as the police cuffed you, "Please don't take him away"

I still didn't understand why you left, I mean

You were just my brother

Despite you're mistakes I look up to you

A beautiful canvas full of colorful hues

There is never a worry in the world when I am by your side

For that is why

You are my brother

All I need to come home to with arms stretched open wide
