All I Need is My Rock
There are treasures we keep, things we hold close.
I have never given much thought to it,
But, there is but one gem I cherish most;
My diamond, formed not with coal, but from wit.
This polished rock, shines as my guiding light.
Luckily, I have yet to lose this jewel,
Yet I grasp it close, for fear that I might.
In tough battles, it outlasts any tool.
How could one adore a rock so dearly?
Because this object loves me too, you see.
“How would you know a rock loves you, clearly?”
Well, because this precious gem says to me,
“Daughter, my affection for you is eternal.”
You see, the gem I cannot live without is maternal.
