All I Wanted

I am sitting here, crying, not breathing

Because of a bill I hold in my hand.

It's not expensive to some, but to me

It threatens to end dreams and crush souls.

I've never liked math

I have no favorite numbers,

and when others ask why

I will point to this letter and go: Numbers are heartless

So, just because I was in pain

Just because I needed medicine

Because I sought out a doctor

I am now drowning in debt

Where are my dreams now?
