All-lighters

Night and day they repeated this process

The rocky eggs died in gold-dust

And the chemical’s specific gravity traveled

Not six or seven times, but 360

Together the male and the female powdered the salt

From the metal matrix to the massmill miles

Distance could be heard

The simple particles preyed

And the buzzard-voice dropped

Allowing the female to never use her voice

The male marked the tortoise’s egg

But no distance could place the two together

For gold separates so easily in old time
