All Lives Matter
“All lives matter son,
no matter who you are.
All lives matter son,
whether near or far.”
“But what do you mean dad,
I know this isn’t true?
So much has happened,
let me walk you through.
Children are getting kidnapped
all over this crazy world.
This unnecessary beheading and shooting
leaves my mind completely whirled.
Children are asking their mom,
‘When is daddy coming home?’
One day she’ll have to tell them
ISIS executed his very dome.
Some people don’t believe
that the justice system is fair,
they’ve seen a lady get locked away
for sending warning shots into the air.
Little kids are struggling
walking around completely bare,
we see them on our TV screens
but do we really care?
A young teenage boy,
wearing a hoodie and carrying a tea,
never got the chance to return home
to see his family.
So do all lives really matter dad
or is this all for show?
Do all lives really matter dad,
how do you truly know?”
“Yes son I see your point
but you’re missing the big picture,
in life you take the good with the bad
as it were one big mixture.
See YOU have the power son
right in your very hands,
but what you do with it
determines when you become a man.
So if you ever wonder son
how to change the world in your lifetime,
remember that it only takes
one act of random kindness at a time.
So all lives do matter son,
no matter who you are.
All lives do matter son,
whether near or far.”
