All From My Bed

My mind is filled of fantasies untold

Of witches and monsters and heroes of old

The world slips away while I’m here in my bed

The words fly off the page and I try to guess what’s ahead

The story dances behind my eyes

My heart races as new adventures arise

Even so, the murmur of sleep whispers in my ear

The lullaby is soft yet clear

The images of battles and adventures fade

And images of calm and rest invade

A seamless blending of the two worlds lasts for only an instant

As Sandman leads me from this realm into the next

I am content.

When I wake, I will leave this enchanted place

Grief will be felt, but I will go with grace

I will greet the morning with a stretch and a smile

Because I know I will stay in this world for a while.
