all the things I never said
everyday, I try to honor you and be the young lady you always knew I could be
everyday, I think of the things that were left unspoken, your soul was gone before anyone realized
everyday, I wonder if you felt it. did you know that God would call you home? were you lonely? were you in pain?
this is for you, I'll try to write every word
just to simply say I miss you isn't enough
it's much more complicated than that
you were there, on my side through all the lies and hatred
you were the only one that didn't hate me for being different
everyday, I felt the hate
every family reunion, every family dinner, every Christmas
I knew they hated me
but around you, I was always accepted
always loved
always hugged, by you
you didn't have a hateful bone in your body
you are the pure definition of a Godly woman
you taught me so many things about being lady like
you taught me that even though people have hate in their hearts, you still love them
I never understood, I would always get mad
I was so quick to anger
until, you taught me the defiition of love
you taught me to always be kind
you would say you never know what type of life they've had
you told me to always be the light
you showed me how to walk in the Light
because if I'm with God I will never be alone.
I now know that you weren't alone, I often forget that you couldn't have been lonely.
because, you always walked with God.
Hand in hand.
I love you Auntie Mamie
