For All Those Times (All I Need)
What do you want?
Is the wide eyed stranger
brushing past your shoulder
What do you want?
Is the familiar faced friend
Trying to comprehend
What do you want?
Is the mirror's favorite question
longing for an answer
What do you need?
All that you need is within one breath
To drift with the currents in the ocean
To claw toes into the sand
so deep-- you forget where your feet began
To pour out all your passion
To drag yourself out of your fatality
And to breathe a breath of reality
All that you need is within one step
To rise when the sun has run out of promises
To peer thoughts beyond what you’ve lost
So far-- you forget how much it has cost
To lose grip of what you kept
To ignore past you can’t alter
And to direct one step of steps forward
All that you need is within one
lie
To cover the rush of blood by a single cut
To fear what it is you must admit
So brief-- you forget how it took a matter of seconds
To think you mend when you defy
To not worry about the proof
And to lie with lies in search of truth
All that you need is not what you want
So what do you need?
Is the truth not told from a lie
Hoping to be identified
What do you need?
Is the cold desperate chance
waiting for the warmth of your hand
What do you need?
Is the unfailing honest wind
giving all that it could ever give
All that we need is forgiveness.
Without forgiveness we could not live
For taking people, places, and things for granted
For telling a lie when truth taste better than the world mentioned
For not being thankful towards air that releases tension
For making a fool out of yourself
by living your life
the way
that you
intended
For not one breath, not one step, not one lie but for all of those times
So next time the stranger
Brushes past your shoulder
A familiar faced friend
Tries to comprehend
Or your glass reflection
Wants to ask the question
What do you want?
What do you need?
Say forgiveness.
