To all the trees around me
I have grown up with the trees all around me
The roots firm and deep into the ground trying to find a drink of water
I have grown up with the trees all around me
They change with the seasons, standing strong through harsh cold winters and blazing hot summers
I have seen things that belong in a child's nightmare, I have heard whispers in the wind
Just like the trees all around me,I have learned that to get somewhere in life I have to break the hard ground so I can grow
Just like the trees all around me, I have had lovely birds singing in my ear and Woodpeckers drilling a whole in my back
I thank the trees all around me, for shielding me from the hot sun once the day is done they never rest
I thank the trees all around me, for stand tall through the storm, snow. rain, and mess for teaching me how to use my brain and speak from my heart so my voice will never strain
To the trees all around me wish me luck, my life is staring and I will never give up
And when I look back on one sunny day I will remember the trees and the example they set
I will remember to keep my head on straight and never lose a bet
I will remember to keep my head high to God
And always remember my roots and where I came from
Then one day I will pass it on, one day soon I bet then they will write to me
" I have grown up with trees all around me"
