All the Wrong Reasons

I wanted you

For all the wrong reasons

dazzled by the prospect

that someone just might want

to share a milkshake

and hold hands

with someone like me

I knew you well enough

to know that you saw the benefit

of having a relationships status

that reads anything but single

That you had something to prove

to the world

Just as I had something to prove

to myself

Funny how our mutually

beneficial relationship

became our mutually assured

Destruction
