All you need is the right person.

My mind kept telling me

“This isn’t you”

I would tell it “yes this is me”

As I stood in a room filled with light on a warm summer afternoon.

I felt so dark and alone.

It seemed like every time I tried to be happy, he would pull me back down.

There was no escape.

It was a cycle, a vicious cycle with no escape.

Until I found one.

It was time to end this abusive relationship.

On that summer afternoon my life was about to change.

So cold was its touch.

So sharp was its blade.

So right it felt in my hand.

It was the end. It was time to go.

One sharp cut and it was all over.

No more unhappiness.

No more crying nights.

I could be free.

I could be happy again.

The blade so close to my skin, when she came home.

She knew what was going on.

She banged and screamed against my door.

She knew.

Everything was blank to me. I felt her pain. She felt mine

She helped me.

She took me in her arms and told me everything was going to be okay.

I believed her.

Sometimes what you need is someone to tell you everything will work out

There is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Things will always get fixed.

My mind told me

“This isn’t you”

I told it

“This isn’t me”
