Allie The Accountability Partner

Before I met you,

I had conformed to

society’s individualistic mindset.

Yes, friends are your friends,

but nothing more.

Then, you walked into -

my mistake - I walked into your life.

My mentality has since changed.

How someone can be my friend,

my older sister, my mom,

and my fun auntie all at once

is beyond my understanding.

But that’s you.

As my friend,

you’ve taught me that

transparency is the foundation

to a healthy friendship.

As my older sister,

you’ve taught me that

the word “no” to any guy’s advances

should be used 100% of the time

if he doesn’t share my beliefs.

As my mom,

you’ve taught me that

I should have unconditional love

for someone even when I know

he or she doesn’t deserve it.

As my auntie, well,

I’ve taught YOU how to

actually have fun.

Yes, friends are your friends,

but there’s nothing better than

when your friends become your family.

I’m probably going to be learning

a lot more from you in the future

because now I know you’ll

never leave me alone.

You’re family after all.
