Alma

He made me follow his commands

And obligated me to become a housewife

I didn't have this life in mind, these were not my plans

He stopped me from achieving my goals. he didn't let me strife

Even though our son united us as a family,

I wanted to gain my sovereignty and be respected.

I traveled long days to Canterbury anxiously

Waiting to get blessed in hope of not getting rejected

This blessing has opened up my eyes to a new life

A life where I'm a women with a voice

Now that I'm independent I feel more alive

I'm no longer enslaved to him; I can make my own choice

I used to be one of many women being dominated

With this blessing my life is no longer complicated.
