Almost
I almost wish you were here
Within my reach
To see you every day, smiling
At me the same way you do over the phone.
I almost want to tell you how I feel
Out loud and without fear
But the words are just as scrambled
As I am inside.
I almost want to call you
And tell you I miss you
Not in the tragic way this seems
But in the honest, I don’t feel the same without you way.
I almost want to do all this
And more to make you happy
But there’s so much I don’t know
And so much more I want to say.
I can almost get over
This growing fear of rejection
Just to maybe make you smile
Or make you run away.
I almost want to come see you
And make you feel happy
Just as happy as you make me
But there’s a thousand miles.
I almost want to knock at your door
Will it open?
Will I see your face?
Would you want to see mine?
I almost want to show you how I feel
With words and pictures
But I can’t seem to make the lines
To make you really understand
I almost wish you were here
Within my reach
To see you every day, smiling
At me the same way you do over the phone.
I almost want to tell you how I feel
Out loud and without fear
But the words are just as scrambled
As I am inside.
I almost want to call you
And tell you I miss you
Not in the tragic way this seems
But in the honest, I don’t feel the same without you way.
I almost want to do all this
And more to make you happy
But there’s so much I don’t know
And so much more I want to say.
I can almost get over
This growing fear of rejection
Just to maybe make you smile
Or make you run away.
I almost want to come see you
And make you feel happy
Just as happy as you make me
But there’s a thousand miles.
I almost want to knock at your door
Will it open?
Will I see your face?
Would you want to see mine?
I almost want to show you how I feel
With words and pictures
But I can’t seem to make the lines
To make you really understand
