Almost Grown Up
I never wanted to admit it.
I stopped growing vertically.
I was now forced to roll with the punches.
When I was knocked down, only I could pick myself up.
I had to start growing horizontally.
I was now choosing what punches I let hit me.
When I made mistakes, the responsibility belonged to no one else.
I have to accept who I am becoming.
Disregarding the approval or rejection.
Even if the person I am becoming is not who I expected to be.
But it is what it is.
Growing up is not fun.
It is doing every good thing you can with no expectations for anything in return.
It is constantly giving and being okay with hardly recieving.
I am almost grown up.
I still expect too much.
Being grown up doesn't seem like a whole lot of fun.
Bur we have to do it anyways.
And that's the most grown up thing about the whole process.
So here's to almost growing up.
