Almost Here

I wasn’t ready for you The way I wish I’d been. I was almost here Out of the corner of my eye, You saw me almost. Almost here. I feel it like it was today When I was almost here. But you couldn’t see me And it seemed like you Wanted to keep distance. And when the mourning came We rebuilt the walls. Yours of fire- Mine of smoke- A lesson in architecture. What we are and What we were And what we have become. One planet and yet two worlds. I don’t know you anymore. But then again… I didn’t know me well The way I know me now. And I was almost here An outline filled with me- But you saw me almost- Almost here.
